Our Team

Frederick G. Gould, III, CPA
Partner

Fred is a 1985 Western Michigan University graduate. He passed the 1986 CPA exam. Fred blazed the trail for the firm in 1991, which also earned him the best office space.

Edward R. Stinson, CPA
Partner

Ed is a 1982 Hope College graduate, where he played baseball and football… well, he was on those teams anyway. He passed the 1984 CPA exam. Ed followed Fred here in 1992, and designed the initial "Fred and Ed, CPA" marketing campaign.

Dave Comer, CPA
Partner

Dave graduated from Albion College in 2004, and then completed his Masters of Taxation at Grand Valley State. He passed the CPA exam in 2006. Dave has both public accounting (tax manager at a large regional CPA firm) and private company (controller at a local construction company) experience. Dave puts to rest the ongoing argument of who is the best golfer in the firm.

Brenda Sherburn

Brenda is a 2002 graduate of Davenport University. Brenda obtained her accounting degree while raising three kids, earning her a second degree of Courage. She is also a Quickbooks Pro Advisor.

Susan Webster

Susan is a 1979 graduate of Michigan State University. She is our office administrator, and tax season Calmness Director.

Jim Lewis, CPA

Jim is a retired partner of the local firm Siegfried, Crandall, Vos & Lewis, PC. Jim is a seasonal tax preparer with GSC. Jim was lured out of retirement with a fringe benefit package of unlimited coffee.

Karen Vellom, CPA

Karen spent many years with the large regional CPA firm Plante & Moran. Karen is a CPA who works full-time tax season and half-time in the offseason. She left the large firm that is often a Top 100 Employer, to work for our small firm that for some reason was left off the survey.

Lynn Jessel, CPA

Lynn Jessel also joined the firm for the 2016 tax season. Lynn is a Western Michigan University business major and a Michigan licensed CPA. Lynn worked at another local CPA firm for nearly twenty-five years, with the last half of those as co-owner / partner. Lynn has been very involved with Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, and enjoys traveling and gardening. Thankfully, she still likes preparing taxes enough to help us out as well.
